All stand posts use ANSI B16.5 150# raised face flanges as standard. BS 10 Table E, PN16, or DIN PN16 flanges available on request for export projects. Confirm flange standard at time of order — retrofitting flanges post-manufacture is not possible.

All heights listed are approximate standard dimensions. Custom heights are available on all models to suit underground pipe depth, raised platform mounting, or flood-prone installations. 1 What is the difference between a Single, Double, and Quadra stand post?

The terms refer to the number of independent hydrant valve outlets on the stand post assembly:

  • Single (SOSP): One outlet flange — mounts one hydrant valve. One hose line operable at a time. Suitable for commercial buildings, offices, and light industrial use.
  • Double (DHSP): Two independent outlet flanges — each mounts a separate hydrant valve. Two hose lines can be deployed simultaneously from one post. Standard for industrial ring mains.
  • Quadra (QOSP/QHSP): Four independent outlet flanges with four hydrant valves. Maximum firewater deployment from one assembly point. Specified for tank farms, airports, and large petrochemical plants.

All types share the same working pressure range (3.5–14 kg/cm²) and carbon steel construction — the difference is purely outlet count and inlet pipe size.

2 What is a pumper connection on a stand post and when is it required?

A pumper connection is an additional 100mm or 150mm Male Round Thread (MRT) outlet port on the stand post body that allows a fire tender (fire engine pump) to connect directly to the firewater ring main — either to draw water from the main or to boost pressure into it.

  • Required by OISD, NFPA, and TAC guidelines at strategic ring main intervals in refineries, petrochemical plants, and large industrial sites
  • Typically specified at every 3rd–4th hydrant post on industrial ring mains, or at main gate access points for fire tender entry routes

The choice depends primarily on the site's corrosion environment:

  • Stainless Steel 316: Specify for coastal installations (within 5–10 km of sea), marine terminals, offshore platforms, LNG receiving terminals, and any site where chloride-laden atmosphere or saltwater washdown is expected. SS 316 offers significantly superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.
  • Gun Metal: Standard specification for inland refineries, power plants, industrial estates, chemical plants, and general commercial projects. Gun metal offers excellent pressure and wear resistance at lower cost than SS 316.

5 What flange standards are available and can non-ANSI flanges be supplied?

Standard supply is ANSI B16.5 150# Raised Face flanges on all inlet and outlet connections. The following alternatives are available on request for export projects:

  • BS 10 Table E — common in UK, Africa, and GCC legacy projects
  • PN16 (DIN / EN) — European standard projects
  • IS 1538 — Indian standard projects where specified
  • Flat Face (FF) instead of Raised Face (RF) — when mating with GRP or Cast Iron flanges

Flange standard must be confirmed at order stage — it cannot be changed post-manufacture. Mismatch between RF and FF flanges in service is a safety risk. Always confirm the mating flange standard on the firewater main before ordering.

6 What is a stand post water monitor and how does it differ from a standalone monitor?

A stand post water monitor is a single integrated assembly that combines a hydrant stand post body (with hydrant valve outlets for hose connections) and a high-capacity water monitor nozzle mounted on the same post — fed from one common inlet flange on the firewater main.

  • Advantage over standalone monitor: One penetration point on the ring main serves both hose reel / hose line hydrant valves AND the high-capacity solid jet monitor simultaneously — reducing excavation, fittings, and installation cost
  • Monitor throw: Solid jet nozzle provides maximum throw distance for tank fire suppression, bund protection, and exposure cooling
  • All three Kinde Fire monitor models also have 2 × 80NB hydrant valve outlets so hose teams and the monitor can operate simultaneously from the same post
7 What is the difference between the GMH-1750, SMH-1750, and GMH-2580 monitor models?

  • GMH-2580 (DOSPM-2580-WM-GM): 2580 LPM monitor — highest flow in the range — 100NB monitor outlet, Gun Metal valves. Specified for oil terminals, tank farm perimeter posts, and large chemical plant fire stations where maximum flow rate is the design requirement.
8 Can the monitor and hydrant valves be operated simultaneously on a monitor stand post?

Yes — all three monitor stand post models are designed for simultaneous operation of the monitor and the hydrant valves, subject to the firewater ring main having sufficient supply pressure and flow capacity.

The 150NB inlet on all monitor models is sized to supply both the monitor outlet and the two 80NB hydrant valve outlets concurrently. However, simultaneous full-flow operation of all outlets should be verified against the hydraulic design of the ring main — the monitor at 2580 LPM plus two hydrant valves at 900 LPM each = 4380 LPM total from one post, which requires a minimum ring main capable of sustaining this demand at the required residual pressure.
