Frequently Asked Questions (Export & Tech Specs)

Do your cabinets meet Civil Defense and Aramco standards?

Yes, Kinde Fire cabinets are designed to meet rigorous standards for the Gulf market. For Saudi Arabia, we offer cabinets compliant with Aramco engineering standards (corrosion-resistant SS316 or GRP) and Civil Defense requirements. For UAE/Dubai/Abu Dhabi, our specifications align with the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice. We provide full technical submittals, material test certificates (MTC), and dimensional drawings to assist with your local Civil Defense approval process.

What is the best material for coastal cities like Mombasa, Lagos, or Dubai?

For coastal and high-humidity areas, FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) / GRP is the superior choice. Unlike steel, it cannot rust, even in salty sea air. It is also UV-stabilized to withstand the intense sun in Gulf regions without fading or cracking. For premium projects requiring a metal finish, we recommend Stainless Steel Grade 316 (SS316), which offers higher corrosion resistance than standard SS304. Avoid Mild Steel (MS) for outdoor coastal use as it will corrode quickly.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Common issues and solutions for fire cabinets in harsh environments.

Troubleshooting: Fire cabinet door jammed or lock stuck (Gulf/Dubai)

Problem: Door difficult to open or lock key stuck.
Geographic Context: Common in Dubai, Riyadh, and Doha due to fine sand and dust storms.
Solution: 1. Do NOT use oil/grease as it traps sand and creates a cement-like paste. 2. Use graphite powder or a dry silicone spray (PTFE) to lubricate the lock mechanism and hinges. 3. Use compressed air to blow out dust from the keyhole. 4. Check for door misalignment caused by building settling or heat expansion.

Troubleshooting: Fire cabinet rusting rapidly (Coastal Africa/Mombasa)

Problem: Red rust appearing on door edges, hinges, or lock within months.
Geographic Context: High humidity and salt spray in Mombasa, Lagos, Durban, and Dammam.
Solution: 1. Immediate Action: Sand down the rusted area, apply a zinc-rich primer (cold galvanizing), and repaint with high-quality epoxy paint. 2. Long-term Fix: Standard Mild Steel cabinets are unsuitable for these regions. Replace with FRP/GRP or Marine Grade SS316 cabinets which are impervious to salt corrosion. 3. Maintenance: Clean SS304 cabinets weekly with fresh water to remove salt deposits.

Troubleshooting: Glass breaking spontaneously (High Heat Zones)

Problem: Cabinet glass cracks without impact.
Geographic Context: Extreme summer temperatures (50°C+) in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq causing thermal stress.
Solution: 1. Ensure the glass is not installed too tightly; allow 2-3mm expansion gaps in the frame. 2. Switch to acrylic/polycarbonate windows or wired glass which withstand thermal expansion better. 3. Use solid door cabinets for outdoor installations exposed to direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting: Moisture/Condensation inside cabinet

Problem: Water droplets forming inside, damaging hoses or extinguisher labels.
Geographic Context: High humidity regions like Kerala (India), Singapore, and Coastal West Africa.
Solution: 1. Check door rubber gaskets (seals) for damage and replace if brittle. 2. Verify drain holes (if present) are not blocked. 3. Use FRP cabinets which provide better thermal insulation than metal, reducing condensation build-up.
